Dr. Bracht Named MOSPRA Administrator of the Year

Congratulations to Dr. Travis Bracht, superintendent, who has been named the 2023 Administrator of the Year by the Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA)!

The Administrator of the Year is one of MOSPRA’s most prestigious awards and is given to a superintendent or other central office leader who recognizes, supports, and implements quality school communications and public relations in his or her district. The qualities and characteristics of the Administrator of the Year include a keen understanding and commitment to the importance of quality communications and public relations for school districts. The recipient promotes open communications with those who work in their districts, the students and families of the school district, and the community.

Bracht received the award at the annual MOSPRA and Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) Spring Conference held March 22-24. He received nominations from district and school administrators, board members, colleagues, and parents, who all provided firsthand accounts of his support and understanding of the value of school communications, as well as examples of his work to ensure all stakeholders are heard and their viewpoints considered.

“During his tenure at Affton School District, Dr. Bracht has not shied away from difficult decisions but has prioritized capturing stakeholder voice every step of the way,” said Erica Chandler, APR, Director of Communications and MOSPRA President. “Beginning with a change in school start times his first year, the closure and reopening of schools during the pandemic, and a strategic planning process, among all the other daily challenges that face public education, Dr. Bracht has provided focus and top-level communications. He is open, honest, knowledgeable, and has an inherent understanding of the importance of always keeping what’s best for students at the heart of every decision.”

The Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA) is the Missouri state chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). While the membership in MOSPRA is primarily composed of school communication practitioners from public school districts, members also include superintendents, principals, secretaries, education association staff, and others who work to gain public confidence in education. Like its parent organization, MOSPRA is dedicated to providing citizens with a better understanding of the objectives, accomplishments, and needs of the schools within our communities.
