Medication Policy and Procedures
A child may not receive medication of any type from the school unless such medication is absolutely necessary and required by a doctor on a scheduled basis (every two hours, ect..) If this is the case, we ask the parents to follow these procedures:
PRESCRIPTION DRUGS
All prescription medications must be brought to school by a parent/guardian. Prescription medication cannot be transported on the bus. They can be brought to school by parent/guardian during the following hours:
Written permission must be provided by the parent/guardian requesting that the school comply with the physician’s order.
OVER THE COUNTER DRUGS
Over the counter drugs may be brought to school by the student on the school bus provided that upon arrival at school the over the counter medication is immediately delivered to the school nurse.All over the counter medication must be in the original container with administering directions from the parent with a signature.
General Information
Illness & Communicable Diseases
If a child’s temperature is 100 degrees, a student will be sent home. The student should remain home for 24 hours after the temperature returns to normal (below 100 degrees without taking Tylenol). If you have any questions please feel free to call 633-5967.
Head Lice
If you find head lice or nits in your child’s hair contact your physician, pharmacist or school nurse for the proper treatment instructions. A student must be cleared by the school nurse before returning to class or riding the bus.
Food Allergy
If your child has a food allergy- notify me ASAP so that I can inform the cafeteria and teacher.
Contagious Diseases

Fifth’s disease | Red rash generally on the face giving a “slapped cheek” appearance. Rash may be on the body especially arms and legs and looks lacy in appearance. It may itch. The rash may fade and reappear over a period of a week | No restrictions. People with chronic red blood cell disorders, impaired immune systems, or pregnant women should contact their physician for further information |
