Mesnier Weekly Update
Posted on 04/10/2018

Dear Mesnier Families,

Congratulations to the students who participated in the Read, Right and Run Marathon!

This week is National School Library Week!  We would like to thank Mrs. Ackerman, our librarian and Mrs. Edgar, our library teacher assistant, for spreading the love of reading at Mesnier.  They both are dedicated to keeping our library organized, helping our students find the resources they need to keep learning and are dedicated to creating an environment they can learn from every day.  We appreciate the both of you!

This month we will focus on demonstrating Habit #1: Be Proactive.  We encourage you to discuss this habit at home and complete the home/school connection that will be sent home.

We will be collecting change this week to support our butterfly garden.

Mark your calendar to attend the FREE Affton Community & Business Expo.

Did you know that the Affton School District has a backpack food program? This program provides food to Affton families in need. Join us at the Affton Elks tomorrow night for a spaghetti dinner to help raise funds for this great program.

Summer Journeys Program

All Affton students are invited to apply to participate in a free summer program. The program will be a fun camp with 60 hours of academics.  It will be held at Mesnier from June 4-29, 7:45 -3:05 pm for students entering grades 1-5.

Registration packets are being sent home with students today. Registration forms will be accepted from April 2nd-April 27th.  At this time, we are anticipating accepting 50 students at each grade level. If we receive more than 50 applications at a certain grade level, students will be selected randomly to fill the spots. You will be notified at the end of the enrollment if your child is selected to participate.

Sahand, Lucian & Braden delivered a letter from Mrs. Unger’s class to Mrs. Hennessy’s class to recommend the book, “The Totally Secret Secret.” After reading their reasons, room 6 wants to red the book too!

Some extra special Mesnier student helpers attended a Cardinal’s game to celebrate their leadership.
