Mesnier Weekly Update
Posted on 04/16/2018

Dear Mesnier Families,

We would like to give a huge Affton Strong shout out to the St. Louis County Police Affton Southwest Precinct for their quick response following two minor bus accidents over the past few days.  We are extremely thankful that our students and bus drivers were unharmed in both of these accidents. I was also very proud of how well our students responded during these situations.

Safety and well-being of our students is a top priority.  Each quarter, the Affton School District Safety Team meets which includes a team from each school. Mesnier was happy to welcome a parent member to our building safety team, Mrs. Amanda Woollard.  Our team discussed how we can better communicate with parents and students and additional improvements we can make to school safety. One next step we would like to take is the creation of lockdown window shades as pictured below.  We are looking for Mesnier parents that may be interested in helping with this project. If you are interested in helping make these shades, please contact Mrs.Been at cbeen@afftonschools.net.

Staff appreciation week will be held April 30rd -May 4th.  If you would like to volunteer to bring a food item to help make this week special for staff, please use the link below or call the office to let us know.  We are also looking for parents to help decorate the lounge and set up the lounge each day.

This month we will focus on demonstrating Habit #1: Be Proactive.  We encourage you to discuss this habit at home.

Summer Journeys Program

All Affton students are invited to apply to participate in a free summer program. The program will be a fun camp with 60 hours of academics.  It will be held at Mesnier from June 4-29, 7:45 -3:05 pm for students entering grades 1-5.

Registration forms will be accepted from April 2nd-April 27th.  At this time, we are anticipating accepting 50 students at each grade level.  If we receive more than 50 applications at a certain grade level, students will be selected randomly to fill the spots. You will be notified at the end of the enrollment if your child is selected to participate.
